the MOSAIC leadership experience -2006

Welcome back.

Two things tonight.

First, I write these two words tonight because I must: thank you.
Thank you for the way your input and coments spice up the “mystic”. Thank you for emailing me, encouraging me, befriending me. It’s an honor for me to be able to share His passion and mission with so many of you who will doubtlessly go much, much further than I could ever go. And so again, Thanks.

Secondly, I need your help. If you’ve ever been to ORIGINS –the Mosaic Leadership Exeprience, would you do two things with me. First would you share your experience with others by clicking on the following link: ORIGINS –the Mosaic leadership experience.

Secondly would you consider helping me spread the word by posting about ORIGINS or linking to it in March? Here’s a link to the 2006 MOSAIC Leadership Conference . Thanks in advance for your help.

I’ll continue my series “A Mystic Leader’s Crash Course” with some additional thoughts about “Light” soon.

Into the Mystic…

Alex

Updates…

Welcome back.

Voxtropolis News

Three brave pioneers have been testing the new voxtropolis blog community
in preparation for the first wave of beta testers. If you’re among those who volunteered, thanks for waiting. ‘Tis almost time.

I’m hoping to create something unique through voxtropolis. Steve Watson sent me an article called ‘Web 2.0′ Has Arrived. Here’s a quote:

“We think the big change on the Internet is not just about getting more and more unique users, but, as we go forward, it’s all about deeper engagement,” said Yahoo CEO Terry Semel during a Thursday morning interview with Battelle.”

My friend, Dean Sharp, who is heading up the art side of the voxtropolis design team and I sense that we’re not just creating a blogging community, we’re building a city. A place where people can find their voices and each other. Voxtropolis —city of voices.

I Apologize in Advance for Missing our Appointment

Last week, Wednesday 23, on the day before Thanksgiving, my Mac was stolen. When the DHL delivery man came to my door, Niza was alert enough to notice that the box was light and that it had been tampered with. We asked the delivery man to open the box and discovered that it was empty. I had already been waiting a week for my G4 to return from the Apple Co. Now, nine days later, I am still without a computer. Here’s the worst part: all my backups worked except for my calendar. So, I’m sorry if you asked me speak at your event sometime in the next six to eight months and I didn’t show up.

Mystic Manifestations: Miami and Atlanta

Next week, I’ll be in MIAMI to prepare for a regional experience on February 7, 2006 and to potentially plan for a unique, culture-shaping National Experience hosted by the International Mentoring Network in February of 2007. If you’re in Miami and want to connect, email me at alex@mosaic.org or comment here. Mystic Manifestations and Movements are all over this one.

I’ll also be in ATLANTA on December 7th with Jon Simpson and Gordon Wohlers of Mosaic Atlanta who are hosting a Round Table . This is shaping up to be a really nice event. If you’re in the Atlanta area, consider joining us.

New Article

Finally, please read and comment on the latest IMN article, The gospel and conversion, leadership development and prayer. Enjoy.

Fall Highlights

Welcome back.

This has been an amazing fall season here at “into the mystic…” Here’s a partial update.

  • The Voxtropolis blog community is in “pre-beta” testing phase. Thanks to all of you who’ve volunteered to be beta testers. We’ll soon open the site for you to check out.
  • We are now piloting a new, wholistic, multidimensional, comprehensive and daring Kingdom advancement strategy called the VoxCafe and Underground Culture Pubs.
  • We had a terrific time at the Round Table in Montreal and in Rhode Island (Joseph of MosaicBoston and Keith) and,

while in Rhode Island, we met with the Alliance Navigation Team members (Paul Gomez, Jon Simpson) and IMN Alumni (Dale Swinburne, Octavio Martinez, Keith McNamar)

and conspired to bring a National ORIGINS experience to NYC in November /December 2006. Until Voxtropolis, NYC was the center of the Universe and still has a good claim to it in the concrete world.

  • We celebrated Niza’s Birthday.

  • We shot a music video for the third track of the doSul CD called “Dreams”.

  • We completed a two-year process of successfully piloting in Europe and the US every facet of the doSul Music church planting strategy. Thanks to Derek Webster, Audamir Nascente, John Edgar Caterson, Octavio Martinez and Dean Sharp who helped test different aspects even before we knew it would work. To me the most amazing things happening aren’t found in the “big name” churches, but in the world where guys like you are putting boots on the ground.

  • Coming up soon

Some of you know that I started a mentoring network this year. Here are some upcoming opportunities.

Do you live in Central FLORIDA? Join me for a conversation in Orlando, Florida on October 18th. This is a training event. Online registration is available and the price is discounted if you register before October 10th.

Do you live in Southern CALIFORNIA? Join me on November 9th for the first informal IMN get together for southern California. This is a networking event. There is no fee. If you’re a church planter/ pastor / leader in the Mosaic Alliance, the ORIGINS experience network, the IMN, or if you’re just a church planter/ leader that wants to connect, let me know either here via my blog or at alex@mosaic.org. Because of space concerns, in order to get details like location, you’ll need to express an interest first.

An Unreached People in North America

    Welcome back.

105 Minutes by air from Detroit.
Six hours by car from New York.

Perched on an island in the Hochelaga Archipelago where the Ottowa flows into the St. Lawrence, stands one of North America’s oldest cities.

    Montreal.
    Home of great jazz.
    City of amazing cuisine.
    Land of beautiful summer days.
And centre for the largest unreached people group in North America.

Yes, an unreached people group in North America.

Established in 1642 by the French, this city that bustles with jazz, cuisine and culture remains practically silent when it comes to the gospel. Less than half of one percent of French Canadians tend towards Jesus, the hope of the world.

Less than half of one percent. Out of two hundred — one person follows Christ.

Steve Norman and Beau McCarthy of Genesis the Church in Detroit and I met with Montreal Pastor, Lorenzo DellaForesta of River’s Edge Community Church, and spent an afternoon and evening discovering the city.

Lorenzo, who is most definitely not among the silent, knows what it is to start a church in the midst of an unreached people and see God work. More of his story later.

    Shock.

That’s what I felt as the realization grew that there is within easy reach of the US a significant city (3 million when the universities are in session) with an unreached people group. This throws into a new light our conversation about the mission to reclaim our post Christian western culture.

    Exhiliration.

Some of you know that I’ve been seeking to identify key cities in which to locate the International Mentoring Network. [I started the IMN earlier this year].

    • The Detroit area with Steve Norman and Mike Harris is at the top of the list.
    • The German speaking part of the world [ with my friends Marcus Wagner in Munich; Adaumir Nascente and team in Dusseldorf; and Derek Webster in Zurich ] is also at the top.
    • Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Boston, New York, London and Barcelona all seem to loiter in the top twelve list.

Now that I’ve been to Montreal, I think it may be time to team up with my Canadian friends and lend them a hand in the exciting task of reclaiming an unreached city for Christ. What better context could exist for training future leaders?

    What do you think?
