Post-Racial America: Thoughts on the Election of Barack Obama

bomakeshistory.jpg

I’m standing in line at the grocery store and sneeking a discrete glance at the cover of People magazine. The headline reads, “Barack Obama Makes History”.

Post Election Depression

I’m already feeling the end of the 2008 campaign.
I miss it.

I love the debate,
the focus on issues of substance,
the spike in emotional energy,
the writings of Christians about socialism and the NT, and the wondering if Christians understand either.

Here’s an idea: Let’s start engaging in debate about 2012. Will Joe the Plumber run for president?

What do you think?

Big Foot

I’m wondering how many readers of “Into the Mystic” intellectually affirm (vs. believe in) a possibility of the existence of Big Foot.

photo: me and lucas on a wildlife hunt. could bigfoot be back in the shadows somewhere?

Long time readers will not be surprised by this inquiry. Having experienced paranormal activity including precognition and UFOs myself, I’m interested in fringe science. [Note: you'll notice the 6-fingered hand that symbolizes The Human Event 2009 --ht to IMN design guru Dean Sharp and his multi-faceted design service and idea studio sharpdesingonline.com -- is like the hand on the new series Fringe.]

I’m not expecting many to come out of the closet on this. But I’ve always thought that the Pacific Northwest was the perfect place to film the X-Files, if you know what I mean.

:)

See you in the mystic…

From the Mystic Mailbag: “The Word”

I received a question from a friend in the Philippines. I’ve paraphrased his question below.

Alex,

Last week, I had a conversation with someone. While we were talking, he asked me if my insight was biblical.

I asked him, why does my insight have to be biblical? Isn’t that being fundamentalist? Continue reading »

Relevant vs Trendy

1960sHave you looked at a photo from the 60′s and the 70′s lately? A couple of months ago, I stopped by Starbucks with my wife, Niza. Starbucks had recently begun an emphasis of getting back to their roots. In conjunction with that theme they had a photo from the early 70′s of their original Starbucks store.

We stopped to look at the photo and Niza made an interesting observation. Of the customers that stopped by to get coffee on that day in the early 70′s, some were wearing typical business suits or mainstream clothing. That’s when she opened my eye to something interesting. Continue reading »

The Age of Interconnectivity

A few years ago I suggested that postmodernism was on it’s last leg and projected that by 2020 it would be “history,” as they say. Continue reading »

Discussion Forum: The Future

The past is closed. It cannot be changed. The future, on the other hand, is open. It hasn’t been settled yet. In fact, there is no such thing as “the future.” There are only the futures (plural).

21st century planet Earth is engaged in a global conversation with seven participants plus. Imagine this global conversation like you would seven people seated around a dinner table. There is the Christian, the Secularist, the Jew, the Muslim, the Buddhist, the Primalist/Animist, the Communist.

REALIGNING THE SOUL TO THE HEART OF GOD

I talked to a man who cheated on his wife. In his mind what he did was natural. He did nothing more than any animal in the wild would do, he explained to me.
